Luis Abinader is a Dominican politician who is currently serving as the President of the Dominican Republic. He was elected as the President in July 2020 and took office on August 16, 2020. Abinader is a member of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
Prior to his presidency, Abinader was involved in the private sector as a businessman and entrepreneur. He founded the Grupo Abicor, which is a holding company that operates in the fields of construction, real estate, and tourism.
Abinader has also been involved in politics for many years. He was a presidential candidate in the 2016 election but was defeated by the incumbent president, Danilo Medina. However, he was successful in the 2020 election, winning with a significant margin over his opponents.
As president, Abinader has focused on improving the economy and reducing corruption in the country. He has also implemented various measures to address the COVID-19 pandemic in the Dominican Republic.
